Water, Water Everywhere

This week the focus in our Discovery Den is water.
Girls have been encouraged to look at where water comes from. Through photographs they have seen different bodies of water including seas and oceans to waterfalls and lakes.
We have talked about how to stay safe in water, for example at the beach, and who we could call to help if we got into trouble in the water or saw others in trouble. The girls have looked at pictures of RNLI boats and handled a range of rescue aids.
There have been opportunities to investigate volume and capacity using water and a tea set, along with bathing babies! Girls have also been challenged to construct buildings and runs to allow transportation of aqua beads they have made.
Finally, girls have been given the opportunity to talk about pollution and problems in the water such as plastic in the oceans using pictures as starting points.
The range of activities has really encouraged independent learning skills.
