Vaulting to success

Preparatory

30 November 2018

On Wednesday 23 November eight Year 6 girls and three Year 7 girls entered the Birmingham Schools Novice Gymnastics Competition.

This is a starter competition for girls entering the competitive gymnastics scene. Gymnasts had to complete a 10 move floor sequence and two vaults. Their scores were then totalled and entered into an individual and a team competition.

The girls competed as two teams of 5 gymnasts in the popular Under 12 age group. EHS worked extremely well under the pressure, resulting in a team gold and bronze medal. This is a fantastic achievement. Well done to the teams of Hannah Shutt, Alayna Malik, Aycan Shevket, Phoebe Cruice, Birle Tenekeci, Lottie Jones, Anfisa Prokhorova, Zainab Chaudary-Hamed, Amira Aliyu and Eleanor Ng.

An additional mention and congratulations go to Year 6 gymnast Phoebe Cruice whose impressive floor and vault scores saw her place as overall individual U12 winner.
We are extremely proud of the girls’ determination to succeed and we look forward to seeing their future gymnastic successes.
