Charity Reps attend WE Day event

Senior School

08 March 2019

The WE Movement is an international organisation that gives young people all over the world the power to make a difference through charitable activity.

In the Autumn Term, charity reps in Year 7 - 9 took part in a special WE Day workshop, completing a range of activities from discussions, games and role play. They then worked as a team to mind map ideas on how to raise awareness, make changes and raise money for local and global charities.

As a reward for all their charity work, pupils were invited to attend a special WE Day event held to celebrate the positive charitable work done by people from across the UK.
On Wednesday, Mrs Coley and Mrs Norman accompanied the girls to London’s SSE Wembley Arena to see the much-anticipated annual show. It was a star-studded line up with appearances from The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Naomi Campbell, Nicole Scherzinger and Iskra Lawrence, all standing up for what they believe in and explaining how young people are the future. The hashtag ‘#getdoing’ was the slogan for many.

The audience were then treated to performances from Pixie Lott, Jack & Jack, Tom Walker, Liam Payne and many more! We even had a surprise encounter with ex-pupil Zarmina! What are the chances of her sitting right next to us in a whole arena with thousands of people?

The overwhelming positivity and motivation to make change was evident throughout the whole concert and hearing about many life stories, experiences and events from activists and ambassadors was truly inspiring.

Everyone had a fantastic day and we look forward to many more charity events in the near future.

Mrs Coley
Charities Coordinator
