Netballers On Tour!

Preparatory

17 March 2023

On Friday 10 March, EHS Prep netballers and staff braved the snowy conditions and set off for a weekend residential at Condover Hall. Given the snow that had fallen in the 24 hours prior to the trip, trepidation grew, not knowing what impact the white weather conditions would have on the long-awaited weekend. With a green light given, the coach company was happy to transport and the centre was looking forward to hosting the 41 eager Year 5 and 6 girls and staff.

After a chatty and song-filled coach ride to the centre, girls quickly dropped off their bags, had a quick glance around their accommodation and changed their footwear before going straight into a guided tour of the site, which tied in nicely with a brief snowball onslaught with the willing and encouraging instructors.

Shortly after, the Year 6 girls took part in a variety of challenging team-based activities including Lazer Maze and Grid of Stones, whilst the Year 5 girls expended their energy in dancing and tunnelling. Following a tasty meal, the evening was happily rounded off with a loud and silent disco and an active dance-off against another energetic group of residents.

Saturday morning’s hearty breakfast fuelled the groups for their morning activities and indoor netball tournament in the afternoon. Girls took part in friendly and competitive netball fixtures inside the centre’s sports hall against three netball clubs. The busy afternoon of netball coupled with abseiling and aerial trekking outdoors in heavy rain, did not dampen the spirits of the EHS girls. Play improved with each match and girls still had energy to support and play in the unexpected final game of the tournament with EHS girls versus EHS staff, plus a few willing participants! Lots of laughter, cheering and heckling was heard throughout all four quarters. Everyone was very much ready for dinner and some brief downtime before the evening’s activities. Saturday night was a quieter one with all residents shattered after a busy and fun-filled day at Condover.

Sunday morning began on the quieter side with some sleepy faces sitting across the breakfast table. Girls had the opportunity to refine their techniques and test themselves in archery, climbing and Jacobs Ladder before the coach was loaded.  Packed lunches were eaten and everyone was ready to hear how they would be remembered during their time at Condover Hall in the tour awards, constructed by the teachers.

Well done to one-and-all for another memorable weekend at Condover Hall and a big thank you to staff who made the weekend possible.
