We began the week welcoming the girls and staff back from their weekend away at Condover Hall.  We were relieved for them all that the snow at the end of the previous week had not stopped them from attending. They had clearly enjoyed the experience.

We also held our first Celebration Assembly of the week when we congratulated Cora Batchelor, Ava Eagles and Ellise Eveleigh on their successes in the Boldmere Junior Invitational Meet representing their club. We are also proud of Katerina Thomas who received a certificate from the Little Princess Trust for donating her long hair, after having it cut, to the charity which helps sick children.

Monday morning brought a great opportunity for Year 3 girls as they joined pupils from Woodgate Primary, Chad Vale and West House Schools for a Choral Day. They learnt eight songs in just a half day and we enjoyed watching the lively, interactive performance in the afternoon.

We held a very special assembly on Thursday when we returned to the Octagon for the second performance of the week.  This time it was the turn of our dancers.  Year 4 had competed in the Great Big Dance Off last week at the Alexander Theatre and we enjoyed watching their entry, dancing to ‘Better When I’m Dancing.’ Shayanna, our Sports Captain also gave an amazing solo performance of one of her Bollywood routines. It was an excellent way to start the morning and everyone returned happily to lessons.

On Thursday afternoon a number of our older swimmers took part in the qualifying rounds of the English Schools Swimming Association. We are looking forward to hearing the results but we are very proud of their efforts in the heats with some personal and team best times. The finals of this event take place in June in Sheffield.

We have finished the week with a second Celebration Assembly and support of Red Nose Day.  Everyone enjoyed dressing up and entering the Design a New Little Miss or Mr Man competition.  We congratulated our younger girls on their Well Done certificates and progress in swimming.  Miss Brown also announced the results of the Year 5 Art Competition and we congratulate Jessie Xu as the winner and Sofia Kler and Katerina Thomas as runners up. We really enjoyed viewing the pencil sketches produced by all of the entrants.

Individual awards were presented to Amelia Haywood for her passing her Grade 2 Piano Practical exam with merit and to Isha Tanda for achieving her Grade 6 badge at Birmingham Gymnastics Academy. Well done to both girls.

We are looking forward to hearing the results from the Hallfield Cross Country event which a number of our teams are taking part in this afternoon, 17 March.

We have enjoyed meeting parents at our consultation evenings this week and hope many parents will join us for the webinar about online safety on Tuesday evening at 5.00 pm. We also look forward to welcoming Year 1 parents to our assembly on Wednesday morning.
