Mr Dukes' A Moment in Time

Senior School

12 November 2021

"A Moment in Time tells the story of Alex Trueman, a teenager who daydreams himself unwittingly into the strange world of Intersticia....a world outside of ordinary time that exists in the slender intervals between instants...."

This is the mysterious and exciting premise of an original novel written by former Head of Art, Martin Dukes. Martin retired from EHS in July after an incredible 37 years of service. His writing talents brought him to the attention of publishing houses and he was promptly offered a publishing deal to write a trilogy, The Alex Trueman Chronicles.

A Moment in Time is the first book in the series and tells the story of Alex Trueman, a teenager who daydreams himself unwittingly into the strange world of Intersticia, where, from Alex’s point of view the world around him freezes into immobility. At first it seems that he alone is free to wander the hushed streets, with their motionless cars and people. But he is not alone. Alex soon discovers that he shares this world with others. There are a few dozen fellow dreamers who share his fate; amongst them the engaging brunette, Kelly, and the rebellious outcast, Paulo. Presiding over them all is the enigmatic Ganymede, a harsh, tyrannical figure, who distributes food to his dependents but sets them sadistic tasks to perform in return. Alex soon finds that he has rare skills in Intersticia but his forbidden activity soon sets him on a collision course with Ganymede in which the very existence of his new friends is put at risk.

The book is defined as Young Adult, Science Fiction/Fantasy and is likely to appeal to the older year groups in school.

it is now available to purchase from Amazon, in ebook or paperback: amzn.to/2YYOI7M

We wish Martin all the best with his novel and shall continue to follow his exciting venture with much interest! You can read more about Martin’s writing by visiting his website Wildest Dreams
