A Blank Canvas

Blank Canvas is a popular and enjoyable Year 7 Art Club run by Sixth Formers Alma Damer and Ruby Morrais-Trigg.

After looking at close up sections of ‘Starry Night’, painted by Vincent Van Gogh, Year 7 artists recreated their favourite areas of the work using expressive mark making. They then went on to create their own abstract textures using acrylic paint and large brushes. The group are now going to use their imaginative and creative ideas to develop their paintings so that images appear out of the colours, lines and abstract shapes of the work. 

Blank Canvas is one of 48 lunchtime and after school co-curricular options available to pupils. A list of this term’s clubs can be found on SOCS.
