Year 3 tell a good tale

Year 3 presented a most enjoyable and creative assembly to their parents at the end of last week. The groups of five girls each told an original story, often with actions and different voices, based on work they had prepared in English.
They started the project with the five-step ‘recipe for telling a story’. Each group had barely two minutes to decide on the content for each step. They then retold the story several times adding description, feelings and action.
The next step was to hone their presentation skills, practising changes in pitch, pace and pause.
During each stage of developing the stories the girls could be seen to grow in confidence, team co-operation and perseverance.
The stories that were presented in the assembly were all very different and evidence of many excellent skills.
