What's on in Westbourne

Westbourne

22 October 2021

In this short week before the half term break, the girls in Westbourne have explored fully the signs of Autumn, both in and around school.

Nursery girls were keen on studying the very bright, changing colours of the season as they explored the gardens in school.  They also enjoyed developing their gross and fine motor skills with careful cutting out and rolling, climbing and crawling on the equipment in Westbourne Hall.

It was destination Botanical Gardens for Kindergarten.  They looked around the grounds and made a collection of interesting items to sort back in the classroom.  Throwing the leaves and experiencing them falling back down gave them much enjoyment and exercise.  They also investigated the feel and texture of the flesh of a pumpkin and, as a final activity on this topic, they kneaded bread dough and made hedgehogs.

Hedgehogs were a theme for the Reception girls too.  During their weekly session in the Outdoor Classroom they collected leaves to complete some seasonal hedgehog collages.

Westbourne girls joined the whole school in supporting ‘Wear it Pink’ day.  They enjoyed choosing their non-uniform outfits and also linked learning activities including writing, collage, and cake decorating.

They are clearly looking forward to the holiday after such a busy half term.
