Westbourne pupils enjoy the outdoors

Westbourne

10 November 2017

The outdoor classroom in Westbourne affords many opportunities for the younger pupils to take their learning outside and to enjoy working together in the fresh air.

Each Tuesday the Kindergarten classes visit the special classroom for a range of activities. Protected by their Muddy Puddle suits they experience a range of weather conditions and are undeterred by showers. This week they enjoyed building dens in amongst the trees for some shelter and using the rainwater as one ingredient in their camping recipes.

Reception girls build their teamwork skills in the outdoor environment in the Autumn Term. They have worked together to make some delicious mud pies using the ingredients they found around them. Experimenting with different flavours gives good opportunities for discussion and developing specialist language. We are not sure which restaurant they will be served in though!
