This Week in Westbourne

Westbourne

09 December 2022

The girls in Westbourne have been busy for a number of weeks preparing for their show, ‘Donkey for Sale,’ and this week they were finally able to perform for their parents and guests. They had clearly worked hard and sent everyone home with huge smiles.

Despite being busy actors the girls also managed to do much work too.  In Kindergarten they have continued to complete activities with a Christmas theme.  In Mathematics they have completed pages in their Christmas Maths Workbooks and done some themed numicon work.  Their literacy work has included sorting present pictures by their initial letter sounds, sharing Christmas stories and writing letters to Santa.  Other writing practice has involved creating a story map, using prepositions to describe the location of the Elf and working on their pencil control.  They found a little time to make Christmas decorations too.

Reception girls were lucky enough to be invited over to Senior School this week to see Santa and his reindeer with Mrs Hayward.  It was an opportunity for the girls to see where the older pupils studied, and a few even bumped into their sisters while they were there.   On the way to lunch, girls posed for pictures underneath the Senior School Christmas tree in the ante-hall and when they reached the dining room, they were served by real elves!

In P.E lessons, Reception have been learning how to throw and catch using balloons.  There was much laughter when the wind took them in the opposite direction.  To finish the week, girls have been getting into the Christmas spirit by making sparkly angels and French Christmas cards.  Joyeux Noel to everyone!
