This Week in Westbourne

Westbourne

02 December 2022

There was a magical feeling in Nursery this week when girls and parents joined us for an evening of Stories by Fairylight.  Everyone gathered in the fairy grotto to listen to the tale of ‘Room on the Broom’.  They enjoyed joining in with the repeated phrases and included some actions.  There were many questions asked along the way and the evening ended with the girls thinking about all the jobs that fairies might do based on the book, ‘Fairies from Around the World’.  Everyone left knowing that stories are magical.

Kindergarten have been starting to think about Christmas.  They have been linking 2D shapes to the shapes of different Christmas presents and been working on their Christmas maths workbooks. They have made Christmas decorations and learnt about Advent too.  The girls extended their PSED work when they met the kindness elf and showed her how kind they are to each other.

Reception girls have been very proud of their CVC word writing achievements this week.  There was fierce competition to see who could write the most words!  The girls have also been getting their requests to Santa in early and have written letters already.  The requests ranged from computers, rainbow cars and headphones to dancing pups!

Santa's little helpers have donned their red and white hats and used their mathematical skills in the Discovery Den Workshop this week too.  They sorted parcels into small, medium and large piles then chose the correct size of wrapping paper to wrap them.  After that they visited the post office where the packages were weighed and paid for using the correct amount of pennies.  They even had time to make baubles for the trees.  Santa will be delighted with all this extra help!
