September's Sporting Stars
04 October 2019
At EHS, the PE department award monthly prizes to recognise girls' sporting achievements both inside and outside of school. Awards and prizes are also presented in our termly sports assemblies. The school year culminates in the Sports Personality assembly where we award full and half colours for school sport, as well as our prestigious Sports Performer of the Year Cup.
To celebrate girls’ achievements this month, we have awarded two sporting star prizes. The first is awarded to Freya McGuire (Year 12) who the PE department have been very impressed with throughout this term with her Dance and leadership. On Open Morning, Freya ran a very successful and engaging dance session for some of our younger dancers. It can be quite scary leading your own peers but Freya did a fantastic job. Well done, Freya!
Our second sporting star is in recognition of sporting achievement outside of school. Year 12 student Amy Campbell, who won the EHS Sports Personality Cup last academic year, has had a busy few weeks training for the British Championships in Tumbling. At the weekend, she competed at the British Champs held at Arena Birmingham, and we were delighted to hear that she won her age group and was crowned British Champion. This is a phenomenal achievement - despite being only 16 Amy is competing in the 17-21 age category! Well done, Amy!
The PE department would love to hear about your daughter’s achievements outside of school - please feel free to drop Mrs Parsons an email (parsonsg@edgbastonhigh.co.uk) if your daughter has achieved success in sport outside of school.
