Ready, Steady, Roman Bake

It was wooden spoons and mixing bowls at the ready when eight pairs of girls from Year 7 took part in the annual Roman Bake Off hosted by the Classics and Food and Nutrition departments.
The girls’ task was to bake a cake or sweet treat with a Classical theme. From the Colosseum to Roman numerals, the girls threw themselves into the challenge and produced some very impressive bakes. The winners came from 7J who baked a beautiful, sticky chocolate cake; we loved the use of the school’s Latin motto on top of the cake. Special well done to the following girls:
Florence Giaquinto and Rosa Lester 7J – first place – Roman numeral chocolate cake
Mary Tse and Emaan Adil 7ML J – second place – Colosseum vanilla cake with cookies
Mabel Edmonds and Evie Hamnett 7J – third place – Roman numeral vanilla cake
It was a pleasure to see the girls’ research and planning come alive in baked form. Many thanks to all the girls who participated. We also extend our thanks to our Deputy Heads, Mrs Crimp and Mrs Campbell, for judging the bakes.
We’re looking forward to the Classical delights of next year already!
