Pupils encouraged to 'Find your Brave'

Senior School

07 February 2020

Whilst the school endeavours to support mental, physical and emotional health all year round, it is mental health that has been at the forefront for us during Children’s Mental Health Week. The theme this year is 'Find your Brave'.

Senior School began the week with a ‘Find your Brave’ assembly. Pupils were asked to consider what their ‘brave’ might be, whether it be climbing a mountain, standing up to someone or for something they believe in; their brave may not be a protest or changing the whole world but it could be a kind or supportive gesture that changes things for the better for one person for one minute of the day.

In form time this week pupils have shared their own ‘brave’ on special cards which will be used to create our ‘EHS is brave’ display.

On Thursday, staff and pupils alike were encouraged to wear items of clothing inside out, to highlight that what we present on the outside does not always reflect how we might be feeling on the inside. Motivating us all to be mindful of what others may be going though and to be a little kinder and more empathic to one another.

"I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear." - Nelson Mandela
