Delivering festive cheer for BCM Toy Link

Senior School

13 December 2019

On Friday 6 December, Mr Wiggins, Mrs Lee and the Year 10 charity representatives were given the opportunity to volunteer at the Birmingham City Mission. Our aim was to wrap presents for as many families with children as we could, many of whom would otherwise not receive presents on Christmas Day. In total the charity aims to give presents to over 4,000 children representing over 1,500 families.

The Birmingham City Mission is a charity that works all year round to support families in need, providing a food bank, homeless shelters and support groups, furniture and clothes sales and the annual Christmas Toy Link. Many other organisations also support the charity, such as Land Rover.

A busy morning was spent choosing presents, wrapping, labelling and bagging presents. As a collective we managed to wrap gifts for 26 families, representing 86 children in total. Well done to Indira, Nikita, Jahnvi, Oakley, Sarah, Aamaya, Zahraa, Diya, Rhea, Evie, Abida and Amal.

Many thanks to Mr Wiggins and Mrs Lee for organising and taking us to participate in this incredible experience. EHS look forward to working with this amazing organisation in the future!

By Indira Jagpal, Jahnvi Patel, Nikita Basandrai and Oakley Winters.
