Having ended last week with trips for Years 1 and 5 which you can read more about in the separate articles we have enjoyed another busy last week of term. It started with an exciting netball tournament for two teams of Year 5 and 6 girls at Warwick High School on Saturday.  The tournament included the girls playing all of the teams in their age group. It was a most enjoyable morning with some excellent playing skills and teamwork on show.

On Tuesday morning, our assembly focused on the importance of water as we considered World Water Day and the United Nations theme of ‘Accelerating Change’ to ensure that everyone in the world has access to clean water by 2023.  Assemblies on Wednesday were run by our House Captains who took the theme of Easter around the world. They also acknowledged the House Point achievements of members of their Houses.

Our Karate students took to the floor on Wednesday evening as they took their Spring Term gradings.  The examiner was very impressed by the work ethic of all of the girls and it was extremely pleasing to hear that all 39 girls from Years 3-6 passed their next stage.

There was a treat for Year 4 this week as they were able to enjoy watching and evaluating the final cuts of the adverts that they had produced.  These were created as part of their unit learning about media literacy and digital adverts in Computing and PSHE lessons.  The girls wrote a script, filmed an advert working in groups and then enjoyed the viewing.

Year 6 have also been extending their computing skills working on their stop motion animation projects which we are looking forward to seeing finished soon.  They have also been busy rehearsing for the forthcoming production of Peter Pan which takes place early in the Summer Term and excitement is definitely mounting.

Thursday evening saw the final of our Prep Musician of the Year competition which proved to be a most enjoyable evening of very accomplished performances.  Well done to all participants and to Davica, our Young Musician of 2023.

We ended the term with our Celebration Assembly.  In addition to celebrating the above successes we awarded a number of Independent Learning awards to Ciara and Helin for sharing their art sketches and there were external karate awards for Sahib and Himmat too.  Bonnie and Rehmah received Headteacher’s certificates for both completing the Year 1 Spring Term Independent Learning Challenges and there was the draw of this term’s Courtesy Counts prizes.  Other successes, including academic, were also acknowledged with the award of Certificates of Achievement and Hannah Cooray received a distinction for her recent piano examination.  The House Cup for the term was presented to Curie House and we enjoyed our customary singing of the school song and three cheers for the holiday and extra chocolate.

We hope everyone enjoys the holiday and we look forward to seeing everyone back for another busy term on Thursday April 20.
