Last week Year 3 had a visit from the dentist as part of their Science curriculum. They learnt about the different types of teeth and their functions and why we need to take care of our teeth. They even took part in some role play acting as dentists using masks and mirrors.  Our thanks to Dr Gangotra for taking time to come into school and for the useful gifts he gave to the girls.

On Saturday we were all relieved to wake to no rain as the Year 5 and 6 Netball Teams had been looking forward to their matches against Bromsgrove School for a tournament.  Both teams had a most successful morning with Year 6 winning five of the games and drawing the sixth. The Year 5 matches were not given scores but the girls played extremely well and are looking forward to their next game.

This week has been a very busy one during which we welcomed Year 1 parents to our half termly Open House events.  Year 1 parents also enjoyed joining Year 2 parents for the production of Lights, Camel, Action 2. The Sequin!  This was the girls’ third performance of the day.

In addition to this annual nativity performance Thursday also brought our Seasonal Guitar Ensemble Assembly.  Our guitarists from Years 3 - 6 entertained us, telling the Christmas story through their music.  The audience and parents also enjoyed joining in with several songs. This was the start of our seasonal celebrations for all.

At the end of Thursday we held our third event of the day. This was the lighting of the communal Christmas Tree donated to school by EHSPA for everyone to enjoy.

In our celebration assembly this week we included congratulations for our Primary Maths Challenge results from the recent competition and to the Year 4 girls who took part in the Bebras Computing Challenge.  Independent Learning certificates were awarded to Isha and Jashvita in Year 2, Zara in Year 3, Hana in Year 4 and Faatema in Year 5.  Imogen in Year 4 was given her Grade 1 theory result which she passed with distinction and Amelia in Year 4 gained her silver Brownie Award.

There was swimming news this week too.  Martha, Year 5 brought several medals she had won at a David Lloyd gala recently and we were delighted to present Hannah in Year 2 with her 5 metre swimming award.  Our swimming squad members are looking forward to the gala next week against Highclare School.

The Christmas door competition in Prep is gaining pace and we look forward to judging and selecting our favourite.  The decorations have certainly given school a seasonal feeling.

Well done to everyone this week for all that has been achieved with another busy week ahead.  We look forward to welcoming Westbourne parents for Donkey for Sale on Wednesday, our Year 4 parents to the Tudor Assembly on Thursday and Prep parents to the Carol Service on Friday.
