The introduction of the Basketball Club for Year 5 and 6 girls has been a great success this year and the girls are really enjoying learning a new sport. They are full of excitement and bounce as Friday evenings arrive and they head off to the court each week with Ethan, the coach from Birmingham Rockets Club.
It was an added bonus when Mrs Sawyers suggested the girls might like to see the Rockets teams play in a live match. The event turned into a great EHS event when many of our basketballers’ families joined us to watch both the Ladies and Mens Rockets teams play. We were all impressed by the fast pace of the games and full of admiration for the shooting skills.
The pizazz of the evening was added to by the cheerleaders and the group dance routines from the children which our Sports Captain, Cora, joined in with having watched the routine just once.
Both games were very close with the lead changing hands several times but the final results were wins for both Rockets teams which was an exciting finale to a most enjoyable evening.
We are sure that the girls will be aiming to use some of the skills they observed in this week’s club session.
