Leading surgeon to deliver academic lecture

Sixth Form

08 November 2019

The EHS Academic Lecture Programme offers a broad range of thought-provoking talks from an eclectic mix of expert speakers and we have two exciting lectures coming up next week.

Our next lecture of the year will be taken by Dr Shabbir Mohamed, on Monday 11 November from 4.00-5.00pm in the Hexagon. Dr Mohamed is a leading ophthalmologist who specialises in treating many eye related conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, and ocular surface disease, among others. He is an innovator, developed creative ways of delivering care to his patients and carries out complex complex eye surgery and consultancy. Ophthamology is known for being an extremely challenging form of medicine, which requires many years of dedication and perseverance. Dr Mohamed will be sharing his experiences of his work, including details of some of the more challenging procedures he has carried out. This is sure to be a fascinating talk and we hope you can join us.

On Thursday 14 November, we will be joined by Prof. Sophie Hatchwell, Lecturer in Art History at Birmingham University. Her lecture will give an overview of French, Spanish and German speaking artists as well as cultural references which appear on the MFL exams syllabus. This will be an excellent opportunity for girls in year 10 and above and will build upon the Art History program for years 7, 8 & 9.

Parents are also very welcome to attend these lectures.
