History comes alive for Year 5

Preparatory

20 April 2018

At the end of last term, the Year 5 girls prepared to travel back in time and to extend their historical knowledge as they set off for the Black Country Museum in Dudley.

Each class followed a trail detailing the life of a child from Victorian times discovering more about their family lives, schooling and working conditions.
One of the highlights of the day was a lesson delivered by the Headmaster of the museum school. He was rather strict and unfortunately did have to cane Mrs Villiers Cundy as she had failed to bring her penny for the imminent science trip!

The girls learnt how to trap cockroaches and about the deadly colourants added to sweets and how to deal with dreadful toothache. The whole day was very informative, great fun and gave everyone a deeper insight into Victorian life.
