Gymnasts showcase talent and skill

Preparatory | Senior School

28 June 2019

On Tuesday evening, parents and guests were treated to a feast of gymnastic talent as girls from both Prep and Senior School showcased the work they have been doing this year.

The evening started with a display from all of the gymnasts working together. It was a most impressive opening. This was followed by performances of floor routines by Prep girls and then from the U11 Midlands team. Year 7 performed a composition piece demonstrating their gymnastic skills and teamwork. Several of the U14 team members demonstrated their individual routines next and the evening was completed with a routine from the Senior Gym Squad.

As a squad the gymnasts have represented EHS in the Novice Competition, Birmingham Schools Competition, West Midlands Milano Competition and the West Midlands Team Competition. EHS also represented the West Midlands in the National Finals in two age groups and there has been success in all of these various events.

During the evening, the girls paid tribute to Mrs Collins who is retiring after over 30 years of teaching in the Prep School, which has included the coaching of the Prep gymnasts and nurturing countless girls in the many Gym Clubs she has run each week. Girls also thanked Mrs Williamson for all her hard work with all of the squads and wished her good luck in her new school.

It is clear that gymnastics is thriving at EHS and we are very proud of all of the girls.
