Fearless Fighters

Last week, the Year 2 pupils had a visit from four firefighters from our local fire station. The pupils are learning about The Great Fire of London in their History lessons so wanted to compare fire fighting in 1666 with the current day.
Firefighters Gary, Elliot, Ryan and Chris gave the pupils much useful information on fire safety and told them what to do if they spot a fire. Mrs Roberts was challenged to dress herself in one of the fire fighter's uniforms as quickly as the real firefighters have to when they receive an emergency call. The pupils all had the opportunity to sit in the fire truck and use one of the truck's hoses to knock over a cone.
The pupils also imagined what it would have been like to be a Londoner in 1666 by passing cups of water along a chain of pupils to throw on a pretend fire.
We now have a much greater appreciation of how lucky we are to have such an amazing fire service in 2022!
