Fareedat Goes Centre Stage At The National Youth Theatre

Senior School | Sixth Form

14 May 2021

This week we were thrilled to hear that Fareedat, in Year 12, fought off competition from thousands of hopeful young thespians to make it into the National Youth Theatre (NYT).

Young people from all over the country applied and auditions were carried out online earlier this year. Fareedat, who we recently announced will be the next Head Girl at EHS, auditioned in April via Zoom with a two-minute monologue taken from Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s critically-acclaimed, one-woman stage show, Fleabag. After uploading her initial audition tape, she was recalled to a second round of auditions which then took place live online.

Following news of her successful audition and entry into the NYT, Fareedat will spend a fortnight in August at the NYT’s Summer Acting Intake Course at the Royal and Derngate Theatre in Northampton. The courses are designed to bring together talented successful auditionees from around the UK for an intensive programme of workshops led by industry professionals from NYT’s experienced Associate Artists pool. The course culminates in an informal sharing of work and leads to NYT membership and the opportunity to appear in NYT productions, access professional castings and much more.

Fareedat is an EHS English scholar and harbours ambitions to study Drama at RADA (Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts). She’s definitely one step closer now. We are so very proud of all that she has achieved and can’t wait to see her treading the boards!
