Head's End of Term Message

Preparatory | Senior School | Sixth Form

05 April 2019

As we approach the end of the Spring Term we are beginning to gain a glimpse of the brighter days ahead.

We have braved the outdoors on two memorable occasions this term, for the whole school photograph and the opening of the pavilion.

The whole school photograph took place at the end of a very cold week and on a damp and blustery day. The date was constrained by the impending study leave of our Year 13 and 11 pupils and so we went ahead. The final photograph was a triumph and we have the whole school from Nursery to Year 13 on one huge photograph of which purchasing details will be with you shortly.

The Pavilion Opening involved everyone from Year 1 upwards and included dancing and speeches. The sight of all girls dancing on the Astro turf under the expert guidance of Ms Lawrence and Mrs Williamson was splendid.

Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to our Senior School Librarian, Mrs Attwell, this term. Mrs Attwell is relocating to Edinburgh and will be taking a post as Librarian at Fettes College. We wish Mrs Attwell every success in her new role and thank her for her outstanding contribution to EHS during her time here.

We also say goodbye and thank you to Mr Greg Andrews, Geography, who has completed his time with us covering maternity leave. We finish the term on a high note with the Preparatory School’s production of Kitty Whittington, well done to all!

With every good wish for a Happy Easter Break and I look forward to seeing the girls back in school on Wednesday, 24 April.

Dr Ruth Weeks
Headmistress
