EHS singers lend their talents to Birmingham Voices

Senior School | Sixth Form

10 January 2020

During the Christmas break, students and staff from EHS once again joined Birmingham Voices for their Christmas concerts and I was delighted to provide them with musical direction. This year, in collaboration with Raymond Gubbay Promotions, we took part in the Christmas Spectacular at Birmingham Symphony Hall, Christmas with Russell Watson at Cadogan Hall, London and two performances of The Greatest Show Tunes at Symphony Hall and The Barbican, London.

All concerts were accompanied by the London Concert Orchestra and, as well as Russell Watson, featured soloists such as Ricardo Alfonso, Sophie Evans, Ben Forster and Marisha Wallace. It was a pleasure to work with these outstanding singers from the West End and Broadway and to further cement a professional relationship with the largest promoter of musical events in the UK.

The choir has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Russell Watson and some of the girls have already supported him as he embarks on his 20th Anniversary Tour this year.  I am sure that students from EHS will continue to feature in his guest choir at venues throughout the country. It is always a pleasure to be able to work with students in these professional environments and have the opportunity to perform in some of the finest concert venues in the county. Much thanks should also go to Mr Robson and Mr Southall who, as members of the choir, support the attendance of our students and continue to enable them to gain valuable industry experience. I am sure we will continue these relationships into the forthcoming year and I look forward to more concerts featuring students from EHS.
