Countdown to the Commonwealth Games
06 May 2022
The girls in Prep are keen to hear about any major sporting events taking place across the globe and we began our interest in the Commonwealth Games coming to Birmingham from the first announcement that they would be held in our city.
Our excitement for this event grew even more on Thursday of last week when the girls were surprised by a special visit from Perry, the Commonwealth Games mascot.
With Amber, he helped us to learn more about the Games and the important message they bring. We learnt a little about the history of this important event and about the baton,
which contains a message from her Majesty, the Queen and its 294 journey across the Commonwealth.
Perry introduced us to the variety of sports, which will be included and helped us to warm up in a special routine, which was a good energetic way to start our day.
Perry and Amber helped us to start our Countdown to the Commonwealth Games and presented us with a mascot of our own. This Perry has already joined in with PSHE, Maths and comprehension lessons in Year 4 and is looking forward to his own relay around the Prep School. Watch for further updates in the coming weeks as we look forward to welcoming visitors from across the globe to Birmingham.
