We ended last week with our Chocolate morning held in aid of Macmillan and we were pleased that a number of parents joined us to help with our fundraising.

This week, which has been full of ‘firsts’, began with our Celebration assembly with the presentation of a number of awards for Dance and our Well Done awards for girls in Years 1and 2. Our Charity Prefects announced the total raised for Silver Bag over the last two weeks and we are looking forward to hearing from our School Council which Charity we will be supporting this year.

Maia Kanagaratnam, our Games Captain for this year, read a report of the first netball match of the season which took place last week. The Year 6 team played Oratory Primary School and had a resounding win scoring 11 goals to 1. They continued their winning start as they also won their second match against St. Mary’s School by 8 goals to 3. A great start and we look forward to hearing more as the season progresses.

Mrs Eveleigh also launched the first campaign of the Eco Reps this year. Our focus is on litter, especially the paper towel litter in the bathrooms. The Eco Reps appeared in a video they had made which showed the problem. They also announced that they will be checking bathrooms regularly and giving them a mark. We are hoping to see an improvement in the coming weeks. This launch was followed up with an assembly on the danger to animals of any litter we drop carelessly.

In the Prep Department Year 2 have taken a journey back in time to Stuart London at the time of the Great Fire for an exciting workshop.

Nursery girls have been busy enjoying school now they have settled in to the new routines. They have not travelled quite as far as the Year 2 girls but you can read more of their exploits in the separate stories.

We enjoyed welcoming parents of girls in Year 1 to their first Open House of the term and our extra-curricular activities are well under way. From Karate to Mandarin, computers to choir fencing to cross country there is lots on offer for everyone.

Next week we look forward to meeting parents at the Parents’ Evenings for Prep on Monday and Wednesday and for Westbourne on Tuesday and Thursday. Please contact us if you have not received your appointment time.
