60 Take Part In Junior Maths Challenge

Senior School

30 April 2021

This week 60 of our Year 7 & 8 marvellous mathematicians took part in the UK Mathematics Trust's (UKMT) Junior Maths Challenge (JMC). The JMC is an annual 60 minute multiple choice competition aimed at maths students in Years 8 or below. It is the UK's most popular schools' competition and each year thousands of students all over the country take part.

The idea behind the competition is to help children and young people to hone their maths skills through a series of interesting problems and questions, designed to build a love of problem solving and stimulate thinking. The problems are deliberately designed to be accessible to a wide range of students whilst still challenging those with more experience.

EHS girls took part online during their timetabled maths lessons throughout the week and really relished the challenge! Results should be announced in the next few weeks so look out for updates on our social media pages. Below is the sort of challenge the girls were faced with. Why not give it a go yourself?
