What's on in Westbourne

Westbourne

03 December 2021

The activities this week in Nursery have been linked to the season. The girls have cut stars ready to paint them in gold and silver for decorations and have used these colours for other activities too.  They have printed repeating patterns of stars and bells, explored gold and silver icebergs and made angel collages.

With the cold spell it was very appropriate to think about mittens and they enjoyed finding matching pairs in their Mathematics session. They also sorted items using vocabulary of big and small, and heavy and light.

In Kindergarten the girls have used the tuff spot complete with tinsel and baubles to look for missing pictures – number cards and bingo board pieces.

They also listened to the story of ‘Cookie’s Christmas Invention,’ which they enjoyed. They then traced words from the story and practised their pencil control.  Some of them also used the board to order and retell the story.

Christmas activities have continued in Reception this week.  They have made collage robins and cute clay snowmen, complete with pompom hats and colourful scarves.  The angels are well underway, and the next task is to cover them with glitter!

Lots of practical learning in Westbourne this week!
