We Are All in This Together

Senior School

09 May 2025

As Year 11 students step into study leave and begin their GCSE exams, they reach an important milestone in both their academic and personal journeys. To mark this moment, Miss O’Hare, Head of Year 11, wrote a heartfelt letter to the year group. Her message looks back with fondness at the time they’ve shared and a reminder of the support that continues to surround them.

Take a moment to read her message in full below:

Dear Year 11,

For me, the best thing about working here at EHS is the brilliant community that we get to be a part of every day. And looking around the room here and the number of staff who have showed up for you, I think you’ll agree we are actually part of something incredibly rare and special.

There isn’t another school like it.

Your teachers, your form tutors, your friends, Mrs Lee and I, we are all in this together – and - whether you have known and realised it or not – we actually all have been since the very first day of Year 8. It has been, absolutely without question, a rollercoaster sometimes, and everything we have done has been to get you to this point. And I hope that as you leave here today you will take with you this:

It’s our privilege to have watched you build incredible relationships with your teachers and fiercely loyal relationships with your friends. The most empowering thing about you for me, for us, for our school community is how you always have each other’s back.

Strong female friendships are a really powerful thing. I hope you will be on each other’s side always, to inspire and motivate each other through every challenge over the next few weeks.

Know your biggest cheerleaders are still here, in school every day, waiting to help you.

Know that we are still all in this together.

Know that we believe in you and your goals!

And all that’s left to do now, is to go and get them!

With all my Love,
Miss O’Hare

As Year 11 moves into this next chapter, Miss O’Hare’s words will stay with them as a reminder of the friendships, support and sense of belonging they’ll always carry from their time at EHS.
