Sports Personality of the Year Awards 2025
09 May 2025
This year’s SPOTY event celebrated more than just athletic victories—it highlighted the collective strength, teamwork, and unity behind every EHS success. Athletes were recognised not only for their performance but for their collaboration, resilience, and the unwavering support they offer one another. The event honoured both established and emerging talents, paying tribute to the women and girls of Team EHS who continue to inspire through their dedication, shared journey, and powerful sense of community. This year also marked a special moment as we welcomed our Preparatory School athletes and their families to join the celebration and recognise their impressive achievements.
This year’s Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Laura Whittle. Laura’s remarkable career includes winning the European U23 5000m title in 2007 and finishing 6th for Scotland at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. She went on to earn bronze at the 2016 British Championships and placed fifth at the European Championships the same year—securing her spot on Team GB for the 2016 Rio Olympics. Becoming an Olympian is an extraordinary feat—fewer than 0.0000017% of the global population achieve it. Laura’s journey reflects not only her immense talent but also her resilience and determination to succeed on one of the world’s most competitive stages. It was truly inspiring for our pupils to hear directly from someone who has reached such heights in sport.
Aurelia E. and Tiffany L. were honoured with the coveted ‘EHS Sportsperson of the Year’ Award in recognition of their outstanding achievements in sport this year.
Aurelia made her senior debut at the Welsh Artistic Gymnastics Championships, marking a significant milestone in her gymnastics career. Meanwhile, Tiffany continued to shine in the pool, competing at elite-level events including the Aquatics GB Speedo Summer Championships. Both athletes have exemplified exceptional commitment, technical skill, and an unwavering pursuit of excellence in their respective disciplines.
SPOTY 2025 was yet another uplifting celebration of the talent, dedication, and spirit that define Team EHS.
