Success in national Mandarin Reading Competition

Edgbaston High School was delighted to host the 17th National Mandarin Reading Competition in the Octagon on Saturday 29 June. 

This national event attracted 120 competitors from cities around the UK including Birmingham, Oxford and Milton Keynes. The proceedings were watched by an audience of over 300 parents, Chinese teachers and the head teachers of Chinese schools.

Seven girls from EHS participated in the competition and they performed very well, winning the following awards and accolades: 

•    A trophy for the school.
•    Beryl Kong: Third prize as a single reader (bronze medal).
•    Siluo Sun: Second prize as a single reading (silver medal).
•    Marianne Kail, Stephanie Kail, Zoe Souter, Omala Abrol, Maddy Vernon: Second prize as group reader (certificates).
•    Marianne Kail, Stephanie Kail, Zoe Souter, Omala Abrol, Maddy Vernon, Siluo Sun: Excellent acting award (certificates).

It was a great honour for EHS to be asked to host this event and it was a fantastic occasion for all involved. Well done to all EHS girls involved!
