Singing up a Storm

The Prep School’s Choral Day returned with a resounding chorus this week when we welcomed pupils from Chad Vale, Woodgate Primary and West House School to join our Year 3 girls for a celebration of music.

EHS peripatetic teacher, Mr Matt Pandya, was the Choral lead accompanied throughout the day by Yijiao Feng, our Pianist in Residence and we are very grateful for their time and enthusiasm.

The children were taught a number of warm-up singing exercises including a version of the Can-can song featuring a cat, dog and goldfish. Then during the two workshops the children learnt a number of songs, ‘Never Forget’ by Take That and ‘You’re Welcome’ by Lin-Manuel Miranda from the Disney film Moana. They were challenged further by learning actions too.

After lunch and some fresh air in the Prep playground making new friends, the children returned to the Octagon performance space where a delighted audience of EHS pupils and staff enjoyed a performance of the songs learnt during the morning. There was audience participation too!

It was clear from the smiling faces and enthusiastic singing that the children had thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
