We ended last week by joining people all over the country in supporting the BBC Children in Need appeal. Girls and staff from the Prep School came to school dressed in spotty non-uniform and Pudsey themed outfits. In the afternoon the girls from Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception left Westbourne for the Botanical Gardens for a BBC Countryfile style ramble. They enjoyed being in the outdoors and were delighted to see the exhibits for the Lantern Show being prepared. Everyone was delighted by the surprise visitor who dropped in too.  The Prep School raised a total of £567.20.  Thank you all for your generous support.

This week began with our Celebration Assembly. We recognised the endeavours of girls in Years 1 and 2 with our Well-Done certificates. There was a trophy for Ruqayyah Hanif for her progress in Karate too.

The results of our Switch-Off Fortnight audit were also announced. We were delighted to hear that five classes, 1A, 2S, 3L, 6G and 6H, had a perfect week with regard to saving electricity and received no ‘calling cards’.  The draw for the EDF key rings saw class 3L as the winners.  We are also pleased by all of the energy saving pledges we have received and hope that families are enjoying working together at home to make any savings they can.

We offer our congratulations to our gymnasts who took part in the Birmingham Schools Novice Competition on Wednesday. They were placed first and third as teams and Phoebe Cruice was placed first as an individual.  We are very proud of this success.

We finished our week with an RS assembly.  We looked at different Religious Celebrations and Nidhi, Phoebe and Ruqayyah shared their own versions of Hindu, Christian and Muslim Festivals that take place at this time of year.

Next week is a busy one and we look forward to welcoming parents to a number of events. There is an Open House for Year 1 parents and a class assembly for 3L parents on Thursday and Westbourne Show on Friday morning for parents of girls in Nursery, Kindergarten and Reception. Then on Friday evening there is the EHSPA Tree Lighting event starting at 3.30pm. We hope many families will be able to join us.
