We ended last week supporting #HelloYellow and our Year 6 Pastoral Mentors message clearly had an effect as the girls have completed their many activities with a positive attitude and many smiles this week.

In addition to Geography activities which feature in our additional article, many other subjects have given the girls opportunity to extend their learning beyond the classroom.  These have included PSHEE lessons for Year 1 who have been learning about the people who care for them.  Each class made a caring tree and the girls drew somebody who cares for them on a leaf.

Year 2 girls have been exploring their sense of smell in their unit of work on the senses in Science. They wore blindfolds and predicted several smells. It was very hard but most of them recognised chocolate!

Science has also provided some practical opportunities for Year 5 too who made superb musical instruments galore as part of their homework.  They thoroughly enjoyed playing them to their favourite Bottle Boys tunes.  Slime making was also on the menu in this week’s Super Science Club. The girl's squeals of delight could be heard, far and wide.

Year 5 also considered what life would be like as a 'Borrower' type little person during a visit to the school Allotment.  They considered what a Borrower might make a bed or cup from, or use as a blanket.  They took pictures for inspiration, and have written imaginative settings for tiny people.

Now their Senior School entrance examination has been completed Year 6 girls have enjoyed the start of their papier-mâché project to create a vase in the style of Clarice Cliff.  We are looking forward to the finished artwork.

To mark Black History Month our assemblies this week have celebrated the achievements of women, past and present, in a number of different fields including science, technology, engineering, mathematics, art, literature and sports.  This gave girls the opportunity to consider what they might like to do in the future.
Next week we are looking forward to our Harvest Assemblies and to Pink Day on our final day of the half term.
