11 September 2020

It seems hard to believe that the first day of term, which seems a long time away now, was only a week ago.  Westbourne girls, in our Pre-Prep School were welcomed back by Peppa Pig and family who had driven in to wish everyone good luck on their first day.  Our youngest pupils have all settled well and have enjoyed their first full week of school.

In the Prep Department, in our first Celebration Assembly of the term we had much to celebrate.  We began with congratulations to everyone on helping to achieve the Gold Green Tree Schools Award.  We have received a wooden plaque which will be displayed in school.  This will also help towards our application to renew our Green Flag Award.

Congratulations were also given to our young linguists.  We heard the fantastic news at the very end of last term that EHS was the only school in the country to achieve two gold, Champion of Champions awards with only thirteen awarded in total.  In our assembly we were able to award trophies to our finalists; Bronze for Bhavna, Maryam and Mahi, Silver for Darcey and the Gold to Ellie and Emma.
We are now busy preparing for World Languages Week from 21 – 25 September.  Each class is learning some useful phrases in a different language.  Please practise some of these phrases at home too please.

We announced that our Prep Leadership Team for this year includes Esme Pearce, elected as Head Girl and Maryam Haiba as Deputy Head Girl.  We are looking forward to working with the girls.  Other roles of responsibility in Year 6 will be announced in several weeks’ time.
It is very exciting to have received so many scrapbooks too from girls in all age groups.  Girls, and some parents clearly enjoyed completing the range of activities and challenges together and have written about trips, cooking, den building, playing in a concert and many more adventures.  The scrapbooks will be all be marked and certificates presented.
Well done everybody!
