Little Learners Stay and Play

Westbourne | Parents

28 February 2020

Providing the best start in life for all our pupils is a central aim of Edgbaston High and my daughter and I were delighted to be part of the latest initiative to take this one, baby, step further when Little Learners Stay and Play was launched on Wednesday. Together with other local parents from across the Birmingham community I went to Westbourne, our Pre-Prep department, to support the early development of our children through a range of stimulating play activities. My daughter loved the opportunity both to socialise with other children and to explore activities in the purpose-built nursery environment, happy in the knowledge that I was there to join in the fun too.

Little Learners Stay and Play is an informal, inclusive, drop-in, Parent and Baby group aimed at parents and babies/toddlers aged 0-4 years (girls and boys) in the local community. It was particularly nice to welcome back some of our local alumnae, who were keen to share the Westbourne experience with their own children. Edgbaston High School values highly its position within the local community and whilst on Maternity Leave I have fully appreciated the importance behind of the African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child". It was clear from the conversations going on all around, that everyone really appreciated the mutual support and advice offered by other local parents whilst our children were actively engaged. I have to admit that I did also appreciate someone making me a cup of tea!

We would love to see you at one of our future Little Learners Stay and Play sessions. Spring Term sessions are running every Wednesday, from Wednesday 26 February until Wednesday 1 April (inclusive), from 10.15am - 11.30am. Places are limited though, so if you would like to join us please do contact the admissions department to let them know at enquiries@edgbastonhigh.co.uk. More information can also be found on our website here .
