Inside our Discovery Den

Westbourne

04 March 2022

In Westbourne's Discovery Den this week the girls went to 'Hippo Land'!

They learnt what hippopotamuses eat, where they are found in the world, what baby hippopotamuses are called, how long they live for and many more interesting facts.  Girls had the opportunity to make their own 3D cone hippo, colour hippos, read books all about hippos, use 2D shapes to create their own hippo and even make hippo masks.

The younger girls enjoyed playing in the tepee with the soft toy hippos and had races on an inflatable hippo.  Reception and Kindergarten's favourite activity in Hippo Land was playing the 'Hungry Hippo Game', together with their friends.

With the help of all the visitors who came to the Discovery Den this week, we hope to have finished the large hippo collage which will be displayed on the wall when complete.  The winner of naming the life-size baby hippo will be announced next week.

Ask Westbourne girls all about hippopotamuses and they'll tell you all they know!
