A Weekend of Netball

Preparatory

22 March 2024

Our Year 5 and 6 Netball Squad recently went on their eagerly awaited residential trip to Condover Hall. The four-team strong group could not contain their excitement in the week leading up to the trip and so Friday morning saw early attenders, armed with their suitcases and holdalls ready for a weekend of netball and OAA activities!

Within an hour of arriving girls went into afternoon activities quickly followed by dinner and an evening of fun. The Year 5 and 6 pupils mingled with each other and other visiting schools across both indoor and outdoor activities including high ropes, abseiling, lazer mazes and tunnelling to name just a few.

With action packed days, time was split between an incredible amount of Netball and a wide variety of adventurous activities. On the Saturday, Year 6 played six matches in their respective groups and Year 5 took part in 5 matches in the first half of their round-robin tournament. The team spirit and support between girls was amazing and the girls truly made memories to last a life time. Sunday morning was a continuation of the tournament with another three matches for Year 6 and four for Year 5.

The standard of netball in the tournament was extremely high on both days. The girls faced both the joys of wins and the disappointment of defeats, not to mention some falls and grazes. With each match they stepped up to the challenge, not once allowing their heads to drop or their smiles to fade. They competed up to the final whistle in each and every game.

One of our Year 6 teams just missed out on the finals by one place. With 35 matches under their belt and, 132 goals scored over the weekend, each and every player grew in confidence and should be proud of their effort, commitment and conduct throughout the weekend.

Thank you also to the staff who gave up their time to take the girls on this weekend residential.
