A Deliciously Roman Bake Off

It was a case of classical competition this week when two pairs of girls from each Year 7 form took part in the Roman Bake Off hosted by the Classics and Food and Nutrition departments.
The girls’ task was to bake a cake or sweet treat with a Classical theme. From the Colosseum to Roman numerals, the girls threw themselves into the challenge and produced some very impressive bakes. The winners came from 7ML who baked a beautiful honey cake; we loved the dedication to using a Roman-like recipe. A special well done to the following girls:
Hilde Perkins and Aamina Rana 7ML - first place - Roman honey cake
Alexis Slyne and Olivia Whittaker 7J - second place - Colosseum cake
Isla Batchelor and Keira Nagra 7L - third place - Roman Numeral cake
It was a pleasure to see the girls’ research and planning come alive in baked form! Many thanks to all the girls who participated. We also extend our thanks to our guest judge Will Griffiths for judging and the staff who supported the event.
We’re looking forward to the Classical delights of next year already!
