A Celebration of Collective Cultures

Senior School | Sixth Form

12 April 2024

In the last week of the Spring Term, the Senior School staged an even grander third Celebration of Collective Cultures. The event has grown significantly, now featuring the involvement of over 100 students and integrating a wide variety of lessons and activities coordinated by subject teachers throughout the day.

The Sixth Form students outdid themselves, leading an event that shone a spotlight on the rich tapestry of cultures within our school community. The cultural twist was not just confined to the classrooms as again the crowning moment was the afternoon assembly which became an awe-inspiring showcase of diversity and talent.

This year, we were honoured to welcome Danusia Francis-Reid – an Olympic gymnast and stuntwoman – to deliver a hugely inspiring talk that left an indelible mark on our pupils. The assembly was an explosion of cultural expression and included a dynamic Pakistani Dance from Year 11; two reflective and inspiring poems from Year 9;  Miss Thaper choreographed two student dances: the Garba Dance swept everyone up in the popular folk dance of Gujarat and the vibrant Bhangra Dance; a Nigerian rendition of Rihanna's "Lift Me Up" was a soul-stirring performance; we were serenaded with a beautiful Italian song and finally, the Runway event was a dazzling display of cultural attire.

The assembly was not just an exhibition but a true representation of the ethos we embody here at EHS. We extend our congratulations to all who shared the stage, offered support behind the scenes, and helped orchestrate such a memorable day.

We look forward to continuing this tradition that so vividly celebrates the diversity of our school community.
