Carols and Canapés
03 December 2020
Due to the current pandemic, we have sadly not been able to host our traditional Carols and Canapés event, which is often the highlight of our annual calendar. We could not let the festivities pass us by without a true OGA celebration and have therefore worked hard to produce a fantastic, online concert to be available for all Old Girls to download from a private Youtube channel: you provide the seasonal drinks and canapes, and settle down to enjoy the concert in the comfort of your own home through the link at the bottom of this article.
We encourage you to get creative, perhaps a few of you could watch it together at the same time on Zoom? However you choose to view the concert, please send in some pictures of you enjoying the carols with your canapes and mince pies and we will feature them in our next edition of Laurel Leaves!
The concert is also our first to raise more funds for the Pam Jelf Memorial Fund. You’ll see that the performers and some readers have themselves been recipients of a musical award in the past and we are relaunching this Fund now, as part of the OGA – more information is in the upcoming edition of Laurel Leaves. During the pandemic, we have got used to being asked for donations to watch online concerts and performances, so our hope is that our festive offering will prompt you to contribute to this worthwhile fund that helps musicians as part of Pam’s enduring legacy.
This can be done simply either by sending a cheque, made payable to ’EHS Old Girls’ Association’ and posted to: The Old Girls Association, Edgbaston High School For Girls, Westbourne Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham, B15 3TS,
Or by direct bank transfer:
HSBC bank
Beneficiary: Edgbaston High School Old Girls’ Association
Account number: 21473727
Sort code: 40-11-13
Reference: PJMF & your name
If you would like to email to let us know you have donated, we would welcome the opportunity to thank you: OGAChair@edgbastonhigh.co.uk
We would like to take this opportunity to thank the following for their contribution to the concert:
All the OGA performers and readers, Nathan Southall, Heather Howell, Denise Snabel, Elizabeth Mullenger and Dr Ruth Weeks.
