Looking to the Future

Sixth Form

23 June 2023

Year 12 students recently attended a day of workshops and talks designed to help them plan and prepare for their next steps after A Levels.

The day began with an inspirational talk from a current Year 13 student who shared her experiences of applying for and securing a degree apprenticeship. She discussed the different stages of the recruitment process, as well as the benefits of apprenticeships.

After lunch, students had the opportunity to register and log on to UCAS, the university admissions website. They also attended a workshop on how to write a personal statement, which is an important part of the university application process.

The afternoon session focused on super curricular activities and the importance of wider reading. Students were given advice on how to get involved in extracurricular activities that would enhance their applications to university.

The day finished with a talk on finance, which introduced students to student bank accounts, overdrafts, credit cards, and the student loan system. This introductory talk will be followed up in Year 13 during tutorial sessions.

The Beyond EHS Day was a valuable opportunity for Year 12 students to learn more about their options after A Levels and to start planning for their future.
