Insights into Water Management

Amidst the hustle and bustle of a typical Monday, Year 11 students received a talk as part of their AQA GCSE in Chemistry from Severn Trent who unravelled the mysteries of potable and waste water management. on potable and waste water management.
During the talk the girls learnt how our tap water is purified and made safe to drink, as well as how sewage is processed to ensure a safe environment. There was audience
participation from the girls to discover what weird and wonderful things have been found in our sewers, including mobile phones, tennis balls and traffic cones. The students
also learnt about potential career pathways in the water industry, via the apprentice or graduate scheme route. It was a very enlightening talk, all while being entertained by
the presence of an inflatable toilet!
