Girl Guitarists Galore!

Preparatory

23 June 2023

The Prep Guitar Ensemble took part on Sunday in the Leamington Spa Competitive Music Festival which was held at Warwick School.

They continued their winning streak and were awarded joint first place with the Warwick Girls’ School Prep Guitar Ensemble in the Large Ensemble Competition and awarded joint winners of the Karen Knott Cup for Best Junior Ensemble.

The adjudicator, Mark Eden, said it was too close to call, as he loved both ensemble performances, having awarded both ensembles the highest grade of a Distinction. He asked the festival secretary if he could break the rules so he could award both ensembles joint first place. The secretary was more than happy to oblige and so both ensembles from EHS and Warwick Girls’ School were declared winners and celebrated their Girl Guitar Power together. A real triumph for female guitarists.

EHS Ensemble was made up of girls from Year 3 to Year 6 and our congratulations to Holly, Aisha, Talia, Ciara, Nehmah, Eliza S, Maggie, Kritika, Lucy and Rayya.

There was success also for several of our soloists.  Eliza Smith won The Doris Rigby Cup for the Solo Grade 1 Category and Kritika Singh won The Preston Memorial Challenge Cup for the Solo Grade 3 Class.

The girls have worked so hard during the year and did themselves proud. It was a lovely day celebrating the talent of the EHS guitarists and we will be sure to return next year.
