In this short first week of the new academic year we welcomed everyone back to school, including new girls into every year group from Nursery to Year 6.  The first few days have brought a buzz of excitement and it is clear how pleased everyone is to be back to school and to catch up with friends.

We are delighted that we are starting the new term with our 1:1 iPad programme for all girls in Prep, mirroring the provision in Senior School.  This will allow us to further enhance our extensive computing curriculum which has recently been recognised by Talk Education, the independent school review experts, in their Innovation in Education Awards 2023.  EHS Prep was shortlisted as one of only six schools in the ‘Best Use of Technology’ class out of hundreds of nominations from across the globe.  This is an excellent recognition for the school.

We look forward to sharing how our computing programme continues to develop in future editions of Friday Headlines.

We had much to celebrate in our final assembly of the week as the girls have been busy during the holiday.  There were congratulations to Maggie in Year 6 as a member of the winning Birmingham City netball team in the Nottingham Netball Invitational Tournament beating other regions from across England.

Other presentations of medals were made to Eliza Meade who came first in 50m freestyle, second in the 50m breast stroke and fourth in the 50m back stroke in the Boldmere Water Festival.  Well done also to Waris Kaur who passed her Grade 3 singing examination in Vocal Performance with Merit.  Waris also completed the Ready Set Read Challenge at her local Library over the summer holiday as did Bonnie Deacon.  They both received certificates and a medal.

Our congratulations to all of these girls on their achievements. We look forward to sharing the achievements and experiences of girls in the Prep School from Nursery to Year 6 during the year.

We are looking forward to welcoming parents to our Information Evenings next week when we can share plans for the year ahead.

We hope everyone enjoys the weekend and is raring to go for our first full week back.
