Prep Goes Global

Having followed a post on a 'Languages in Primary Schools' social media page, Madame Hennous applied for the first in a series of International School Awards with the British Council.

We are delighted to announce that the EHS Prep Department has been awarded the International School Award Foundation Certificate. To achieve the award, we had to demonstrate an excellent start in promoting an international dimension across our school and highlighting the benefits of learning in a global context.

We pride ourselves on being global citizens and the girls are always eager to learn about other countries, cultures and languages. Not only have we celebrated our cultural and linguistic diversity in a whole school Languages Assembly, we have also established strong links with Notre Dame School in Rue, France.

In preparation for their French Residential Trip, Year 6 girls have written a letter to a pen pal in French and have received a response in English. We had the pleasure of visiting this school last May and are excited about meeting pen pals again this year.

Prep School girls also take part in the national Junior Language Challenge with considerable success. In recognition of the many ways in which we involve ourselves in the wider, international world, we are honoured to receive this award.
