Excitement Courtside

Last Saturday a group of Year 5 and 6 girls and their families attended the live basketball games featuring City of Birmingham Rockets being held at Nechells Wellbeing Centre.
Both the women’s and men’s Rockets teams were playing on the evening against the Barking Abbey teams. EHS spectators were excited as the women took to the court first and played with great skill and determination. The score stayed close all the way through with a nail biting fourth quarter resulting in Rockets winning by just one point, 58 – 57.
During the break between quarters several of our girls took part in a competition. The aim was to shoot a goal in the baskets at both ends of the court in the shortest time. We are very proud of Ceana, Haaniya, Martha and Megan who all performed with confidence despite being in front of a large audience. Congratulations to Ceana who was the winner and who won a new basketball which we know she will put to very good use.
A bonus for Ceana and Talia was to meet Sarah Musgrave, one of the stars of the Rockets team and one of the top scorers in the game.
We are sure that the girls will take elements of the pace and skill that they witnessed into their own playing at Basketball Club on Friday evenings.
