Westbourne provides an Early Years environment where pupils are encouraged to develop their individual strengths.
Whilst the curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage guidelines which includes Language, Literacy and Communication, Numeracy, R.E, Knowledge and Understanding, Physical, Creative and Personal and Social Development, many girls in Reception are already working beyond national levels, being encouraged to think independently. A good balance is created between learning through play and subject focused work.
The curriculum incorporates art, music, science and sport. In Reception ballet is taught as part of the girls' timetable and girls begin weekly swimming and French classes as a matter of course.
A very high priority is given to the personal and social development of the girls even from an early age.
Westbourne gives pupils confidence with self-awareness and consideration for others; it focuses on establishing modes of behaviour and conduct which will see the girls into later life.
